Yamazaki Mei (山﨑愛生) is a Japanese pop singer under Hello! Project as a 15th generation member of Morning Musume. She is a former member of Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido.

Early Life[]
Yamazaki Mei was born on June 28, 2005 in Hokkaido, Japan.
2014[]
In 2014, Yamazaki auditioned to become a model for Ciao Girl magazine.[2]
2015[]
In 2015, Yamazaki entered the Hello! Project "Hokkaido Gentei" Member Audition and passed.[3]
2016[]
On July 16, it was announced that the successful applicants of the Hello! Project "Hokkaido Gentei" Member Audition would join the newly established trainee branch, Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido.[3] Yamazaki was officially introduced as one of the first seven members on July 30 at the Hello! Project 2016 SUMMER ~Sunshine Parade~ concert in Sapporo alongside Oota Haruka, Sato Hikari, Ishiguri Kanami, Kawano Minori, Kudo Yume, and Kitagawa Ryo.[4]
2018[]
On May 6, Yamazaki won the judge's singing award at the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2018 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event for her performance of "Wonderful World (English Ver.)".[5]
2019[]
On May 4, Yamazaki won the judge's character award at the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2019 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event for her performance of "Mugen Climax".[6]
On June 22, she was announced as a 15th generation member of Morning Musume '19 alongside Morning Musume '19 LOVE Audition winners Okamura Homare and Kitagawa Rio.[7][8] She had her last performance as a Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido member in the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2019 6gatsu ~Midori~, which ended on June 16. She and the rest of the 15th generation members were introduced on stage during the Hello! Project 2019 SUMMER concert tour from July 13 and will begin performing with the group in the Morning Musume '19 Concert Tour Aki.[9]
On August 28, Kitagawa, Okamura, and Yamazaki held their debut fanclub event, Morning Musume '19 15ki Member FC Event, at Yamano Hall.
On September 5, the 15th generation members began a fanclub-exclusive web talk show, titled Three stations.[10]
2020[]
On June 12, she released her first visual photobook, Mei.[11]
On August 21, she celebrated her 15th birthday at a fanclub event titled Morning Musume '20 Yamazaki Mei Birthday Event with two shows at LANDMARK HALL.[12] In compliance with government policy, cheering, crowding, standing, and closeness in the venue were prohibited, and wearing masks were required to enter.
2021[]
On June 28, she celebrated her 16th birthday at a fanclub event titled Morning Musume '21 Yamazaki Mei Birthday Event with two shows at LANDMARK HALL.
2022[]
On May 23, it was reported that Makino Maria and Yamazaki Mei were diagnosed with COVID-19. Both of them underwent a PCR test at a medical institution after being classified as close contacts to Ishida Ayumi, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few days prior and got a confirmed positive result. They will be taking a break from activities for the time being and will be resting at home. Currently, Yamazaki has no symptoms, while Makino has a slight fever and sore throat.[13]
On June 28, she celebrated her 17th birthday at a fanclub event titled Morning Musume '22 Yamazaki Mei Birthday Event with two shows at Edogawa Cultural Center.
2023[]
On April 14, she participated in M-line Special 2023 ~Magical Wish~ as a special daily guest alongside Okamura Homare.
On June 22, she opened an official Instagram account.[14]
On July 3, she celebrated her 18th birthday at a fanclub event titled Morning Musume '23 Yamazaki Mei Birthday Event with two shows at Itabashi Culture Hall.
On December 8, she took part in Hello! Project 25 Shunnen Kinen Special FC Event Vol.4 alongside Makino Maria, Okamura Homare, Kawamura Ayano, Tamenaga Shion, Kudo Yume, Endo Akari, Nishida Shiori and Kubota Nanami at Yamano Hall. This event covered the 2017-2023 era of Hello! Project's history.
2024[]
On June 22 and 23, she participated in a fanclub bus tour titled Morning Days Happy Holiday 15ki Member Kitagawa Rio・Okamura Homare・Yamazaki Mei Fanclub Bus Tour in Narago alongside her 15th generation mates Kitagawa Rio and Okamura Homare to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their addition to the group.
On June 28, she celebrated her 19th birthday at a fanclub event titled Morning Musume '24 Yamazaki Mei Birthday Event with two shows at Tower Hall Funabori.
Personal Life[]
She has a younger sister.
Yamazaki was in her sixth year of elementary school when she joined Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido and in her second year of middle school when she joined Morning Musume. As of April 2021, Yamazaki is currently in her first year of high school.
Yamazaki gets along best with her generation-mate Okamura Homare in Morning Musume. Her pairing name with Homare is Homamei (ほまめい).
