Yamazaki Aoi (山崎あおい) is a Japanese singer-songwriter, who made her major debut in August 2012. The first song she wrote for another artist was Abe Natsumi's album track "Usotsuki" in 2015.

Biography[]

Yamazaki Aoi was born on August 28, 1993 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.[1]

When she was in her third year of middle school, Yamazaki auditioned for The 2nd Music Revolution which was sponsored by YAMAHA. Even though she advanced to the next round, she did not make it all the way to the final contest.[2]

In 2009, at age 16, Yamazaki finally won the Grand Prix and Special Jury Prize at The 3rd Music Revolution audition.[2] Afterwards, her songs began being used in local commercials and TV shows in Sapporo. Due to the attention she received, Yamazaki made her major debut as an artist in August 2012.[1]

She is a self-proclaimed fan of female idols, and she actively posts about her various interests on her official blog and Twitter.

Yamazaki graduated from Keio University,[3] where she was also Suzuki Airi's upperclassman.[4]
