Tanimoto Ami (谷本安美) is a Japanese pop singer under Hello! Project as a member and sub-leader of Tsubaki Factory. She was introduced as a member of Hello Pro Kenshuusei during the Hello Pro Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2014 ~11gatsu・12gatsu no Nama Tamago Show!~.

Early Life[]

Tanimoto Ami was born on November 16, 1999 in Hokkaido, Japan to a couple whose names are undisclosed.

2014[]

In summer 2014, Tanimoto participated in the Morning Musume '14 (Golden) Audition!, made it to the finals, but failed to enter the group.[1]

In November, Tanimoto joined Hello Pro Kenshuusei. She was formally introduced during the November / December recital on November 29 alongside Hashimoto Nagisa, Horie Kizuki, Ogata Risa, Shimano Momoko, Hirose Ayaka, Asakura Kiki, Inoue Rei and Onoda Saori.

2015[]

On April 29, it was announced that Tanimoto would debut in a new unit named Tsubaki Factory alongside Yamagishi Riko, Kishimoto Yumeno, Niinuma Kisora, Asakura Kiki and Ogata Risa.

During the Hello! Project 2015 SUMMER concert tour, Tanimoto injured her foot. Her injury took 3 weeks to recover, she had to be out of the group to heal until she could return.

2017[]

On November 16, Tanimoto celebrated her 18th birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2017, which featured two shows at Shinjuku ReNY.

2018[]

On November 19, Tanimoto celebrated her 19th birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2018, which featured two shows at TOKYO FM HALL.

2019[]

On November 18, she celebrated her 20th birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2019, featuring two shows at TOKYO FM HALL.

2020[]

On May 14, she opened up an official Instagram account.[2]

On November 16, she released her first photobook, Am1.[3]

On November 17, she celebrated her 21st birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2020, featuring two shows at Square Ebara Hiratsuka Hall.

2021[]

On November 12, she celebrated her 22nd birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2021, featuring two shows at LANDMARK HALL.

2022[]

On January 27, it was announced that Tanimoto Ami had tested positive for COVID-19 by antigen test. As a result, the January 29 and 30 shows of the Hello! Project 2022 Winter ~LOVE & PEACE~ tour was cancelled, and the Tsubaki Factory Kishimoto Yumeno×Akiyama Mao×Fukuda Marine FC Event 2022 ~Chou Chou Chou Nen2~ in Osaka was also cancelled.[4]

On August 8, it was announced that Tsubaki Factory and BEYOOOOONDS members Yamagishi Riko, Tanimoto Ami, Asakura Kiki, Akiyama Mao, Nishida Shiori, Eguchi Saya, Maeda Kokoro, Yamazaki Yuhane, and Satoyoshi Utano would be appearing in the NHK special drama Idol, which aired on August 11. The drama is about the aspiring idols who performed at the theater Moulin Rouge Shinjukuza during the World War II era.[5]

On November 16, she celebrated her 23rd birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2022, featuring two shows at LANDMARK HALL.

2023[]

On March 24, it was announced that Tanimoto Ami be the first guest to appear on the new HBC program Kita ni Koishita!. The program features Iida Kaori as the MC and various talents from Hokkaido as guests. Tanimoto appears in the first two episodes of the show, which aired on April 15 and 22.[6]

On June 10, Tanimoto was appointed as Tsubaki Factory's new sub-leader alongside Niinuma Kisora at the group's concert as part of the Sayonara Nakano Sunplaza Ongakusai festival.

On November 16, she celebrated her 24th birthday at a fanclub event titled Tsubaki Factory Tanimoto Ami Birthday Event 2023, featuring two shows at LANDMARK HALL.

When Tanimoto joined Hello Pro Kenshuusei in November 2014, she was a third year middle school student. She graduated from high school in March 2018.

    • If she had super-powers, she'd stop time.
    • Her future goal is to do work outside of being an idol to become known by many people.
    • She has stated during an interview that she wants to go to Los Angeles. She also would like to discover Germany with all the castles.
    • She likes K-pop and is especially a fan of the Korean-Japanese girl group IZ*ONE.[10] Her favorite member is Kim Minju.[11] When Tsubaki Factory appeared on Utacon on July 16, 2019, she was able to meet IZ*ONE in person for the first time and received a signed CD of their Japanese single "Buenos Aires".[12]
