Takeuchi Akari (竹内朱莉) is a Japanese idol under Hello! Project as a 2nd generation member and leader of ANGERME. She first joined Hello! Project in 2008 as a member Hello Pro Egg. She was also a member of Shin Minimoni and the SATOYAMA movement unit Harvest.

Early Life[edit | edit source]
Takeuchi Akari was born on November 23, 1997 in Saitama, Japan.
2008[edit | edit source]
Takeuchi Akari joined Hello! Project as a member of Hello Pro Egg in 2008. She was first introduced at the 2008 Hello! Project Shinjin Kouen 6gatsu ~Akasaka Hop!~ concert in June 2008 alongside Fukumura Mizuki and Kaneko Rie.
2009[edit | edit source]
In June 2009, Takeuchi took park in the stage play Ojigi de SHAPE-UP!, the sequel to Ojigi 30 do Degrees, with fellow Hello! Project members Miyamoto Karin, Takahashi Ai, Michishige Sayumi, Tanaka Reina, and Kamei Eri.
In 2009, Takeuchi became a member of the revival group, Shin Minimoni alongside Linlin, Fukuda Kanon, and Miyamoto Karin.

In late 2010, Takeuchi auditioned for Morning Musume 9th Generation Audition, but failed to pass the 3rd round.
2011[edit | edit source]
She auditioned for S/mileage and made it in as sub-members along with Nakanishi Kana, Tamura Meimi, Kosuga Fuyuka, and fellow Hello Pro Egg member Katsuta Rina.
On October 16th, the second generation sub-members of S/mileage were announced as official members. Following the announcement, Takeuchi, along with Katsuta, withdrew from Hello Pro Egg.
2012[edit | edit source]
On May 13, information was released about an event for the 9th and 10th generation members of Morning Musume as well as S/mileage’s 2nd generation members, titled Mosuma FC Event ~Gachi☆Kira~, was set to take place on June 15th, 18th, 20th, and 28th at Yokohama Blitz.
On October 10, it was announced that Takeuchi would be a member of the new unit Harvest alongside Morning Musume members Ikuta Erina, Ishida Ayumi, and Sato Masaki.

Starting in April, Takeuchi became a regular on the NHK's educational television program Test no Hanamichi.
On April 14, S/mileage's 2nd generation held a fanclub event.
On May 26, it was announced that Takeuchi would take part of a new project called "Yattaruchan Daisakusen", which she supported Nakanishi Kana's mission to become "Super Yattaruchan". The project began in August. On the same day, Takeuchi's Twitter account was officially opened.
On November 25, she celebrated her birthday at a special event called S/mileage Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2013 with two performances.

On March 2, Takeuchi Akari and then Nakanishi Kana Tweeted that their Twitter accounts would become inactive, but they would start to update their blog more often. Takeuchi's second-to-last tweet stated: "We were doing Twitter as part of Operation Yattaruchan to become Yattaruchan, so maybe this means Akari is Yattaruchan now-!!!!! lol I'll update my blog more often from now on!! lol Thank you for now!!"[1]
On November 23, Takeuchi celebrated her 17th birthday. She had a special birthday event, titled S/mileage ~Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2014~, the event featured two performances in Tokyo.

On November 24, it was announced that Takeuchi Akari would take over Fukuda Kanon's Tuesday regular position on the radio show 60TRYbu.[2]
On November 29, during Fukuda's gradation concert at the end of the ANGERME First Concert Tour 2015 Aki "Hyakka Ryouran", it was announced that she was appointed sub-leader alongside Nakanishi Kana.

On January 25, Takeuchi celebrated her 18th birthday at a special event titled ANGERME Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event ~Shinnenkai ja nai yo! Birthday Event da yo! Minna de Akari wo Iwaundaa!!!~, featuring two performances in Tokyo.
On November 24, Takeuchi celebrated her 19th birthday at a special event titled ANGERME Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2016, featuring two performances in Tokyo.

On February 17, Takeuchi held a talk event with Kamikokuryo Moe at the Hello! Project Official Shop in Osaka.[3]
On November 22, Takeuchi celebrated her 20th birthday at a fanclub event titled ANGERME Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2017, which featured two shows at Square Ebara Hiratsuka Hall.

On August 27, Takeuchi was appointed as a migration PR ambassador for Shikokuchuo, Ehime Prefecture alongside Up Up Girls (Kakko Kari) member Mori Saki.[4]
On September 23, Takeuchi was appointed with eight other OG and active Hello! Project members from Saitama Prefecture as Host City Special Supporters for Kumagaya during the Rugby World Cup 2019 hosted by Japan.[5][6]
On December 12, she celebrated her 21st birthday at a fanclub event titled ANGERME Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2018, featuring two shows at Square Ebara Hiratsuka Hall.

On May 25, during the night concert of the ANGERME Concert Tour 2019 Haru ~Rinnetenshou~ in Chiba, it was announced that Takeuchi would become the group's new leader following Wada Ayaka's graduation on June 18.[7][8]
On July 25, she and Morning Musume '19 member Fukumura Mizuki held a joint fanclub event titled Morning Musume '19 Fukumura Mizuki・ANGERME Takeuchi Akari FC Event, featuring two shows at NEW PIER HALL.
On October 5, the Hello Tsu PHOTOBOOK① was released, including Takeuchi's gravure that was originally published in a December 2018 issue of Weekly Famitsu.[9]
On November 25, she celebrated her 22nd birthday at a fanclub event titled ANGERME Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2019, featuring two shows at NEW PIER HALL.

On May 14, she opened up an official Instagram account.[10]
On November 26, she celebrated her 23rd birthday at a fanclub event titled ANGERME Takeuchi Akari Birthday Event 2020, featuring two shows at LANDMARK HALL.[11] In compliance with government policy, cheering, crowding, standing, and closeness in the venue were prohibited, and wearing masks were required to enter.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Takeuchi has an older brother and a pet dog named Melon. Takeuchi is maternal first cousins with ℃-ute's leader, Yajima Maimi.[12] She has explained in the past that the reason why she decided to join Hello Pro Egg was because she admired her cousin Yajima and ℃-ute. Her grandfather owns an electronics shop.[13]
When Takeuchi was first introduced as a Hello Pro Egg member in June 2008, she was a third year elementary school student. At the time when Takeuchi auditioned for S/mileage, she was a second year middle school student. During her time in middle school, she was in a sports team. On March 15, 2013, Takeuchi graduated from middle school.[14] On March 13, 2016, Takeuchi announced that she had graduated from high school and would start university.[15]
Takeuchi most notably gets along with Katsuta Rina, Fukumura Mizuki[13] and Makino Maria.[16]
Takeuchi's given name, "Akari", was thought of by her grandfather, who owned an electronics shop and wanted to pick a name related to electricity. He came up with Akari, Hikari, and Hikaru; all of them meaning "light", "illumination", or "glow". Since Takeuchi's mother wanted a cute name, she choose Akari out of the three.[13]
