Katagiri Yuka (片桐由佳), also simply known as YUKA, is a Japanese dancer and choreographer.
She started taking ballet classes at 3 years old, became an assistant for toddler classes at 8, and started learning jazz at 13. Then at 14, she became the first middle school student and the youngest person to pass an audition to join the M.Mishiro Dance Company.
Katagiri moved to Tokyo at 16 and attended classes at DANCE SPACE WING. Through a choreographer's assistant at the studio, she was able to get her first job as a back-up dancer for the K-pop girl group Baby V.O.X. Afterwards she began failing auditions and decided to study dance in New York City for three months to increase her skills. It was there that Katagiri developed her own dancing style. When she returned to Japan, she passed an audition to become a back-up dancer for BoA.
Since 2001, she has been a back-up dancer for several artists before also becoming a choreographer. She has mostly worked for LDH, training and choreographing dances for their artists such as EXILE, Dream (who are disbanded as of 2017), and Happiness.
For a short time in 2018, she worked as a hip-hop and jazz instructor at the Tokyo dance studio SOUL AND MOTION.
