It was released on November 23, 2016 in 6 editions: 3 regular and 3 limited. The first press of the regular editions include a random trading card of 12 kinds depending on the jacket (36 in total). The limited editions include an event lottery serial number card.

- Fukumura Mizuki, Kudou Haruka, and Oda Sakura are the centers for ‘’Sexy Cat no Enzetsu’’, Fukumura Mizuki is the center for ‘’Mukidashi de Mukiatte’’, Makino Maria is the center for ‘’Sou Janai’’.
- The single was announced and "Sou ja nai" was performed for the first time during the opening concert of Morning Musume '16 Concert Tour Aki ~MY VISION~ on September 24, 2016.[13][14][15]
- Kudo Haruka is absent in the dance shots of the "Mukidashi de Mukiatte" and "Sou ja nai" music videos after she temporarily hurt her lower back during the filming of the former.[16]
- The music video for "Sexy Cat no Enzetsu" was filmed at the studio GrassFactory in Kanagawa Prefecture, which was the same location used for Juice=Juice's "Dream Road ~Kokoro ga Odoridashiteru~" music video.[17] The music video for "Sou ja nai" was filmed in the NTT Makuhari Building in Chiba Prefecture.[18][19]
- Tsunku was asked by management to write a song for Makino Maria, which led to the track "Sou ja nai" in which she is the center.[20]
- This is the third of 9 consecutive singles to have a lineup change (first single without Suzuki Kanon).
- Ogata Haruna is the only member not to receive a solo line in "Mukidashi de Mukiatte".
- This is the first single since "Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game" to not feature Suzuki Kanon.
- This is their first single to rank #1 on Billboard Japan's top singles chart.
