Sayaka Ichii Talent Idol Group Audition is an audition running from February 14, 2020 to the end of July 2020, with former Hello! Project and Morning Musume member Ichii Sayaka as the producer. Morning Musume and AKB48 choreographer, Natsu Mayumi, will handle dance choreography for the audition. Women between the ages of 15 and 36 (Ichii's age) are eligible to apply. The audition screenings and training camps for the new group will be broadcasted through the mysta app. There are no nationality requirements for the audition, and there is no mention of needing Japanese language ability, but applicants must be available for activities mainly in the Tokyo area.

Audition Schedule

On May 1, they added 0 to 3 people from the dropouts in the first half as judges They also added rules to make it easier to understand questions about a cappella, including items that have already been announced on the official LINE.[1]

On May 18, they announced the outline of the event screening scheduled for the next selection on July 5. The event screening will be conducted in Tokyo with a focus on stage performances that comprehensively screen songs, dances, idols, and self-produced abilities. Stage performances will be conducted in advance for each designated group that comprehensively considers multiple viewpoints such as region, age, and desired song. The group will be decided in early June, around 10 groups in all, and the number of people in each group will not be equal. There are two songs planned for the stage performance that will be judged. One song will be "Hajimari no Countdown", which is also the subject song of this audition. The other song will be an existing major idol song There will be multiple judges for the event screening, including Ichii Sayaka and Natsu Mayumi.[2]

On May 26, it was announced that the 2nd round would go on overtime with 16 more participants who have previously been selected as the Associate Judges Awards. 4 of the 16 will proceed to the event screening.[3]

58 girls went on to the event screening. They were added into 11 groups with a various of number sof paricipant sin each group. On June 15, they announced the group names (each group came up with their own group name).[4]

Final Examination

  • On July 5, 30 people passed and got to go to training camp. The final examination will be held at Yurakucho Asahi Hall in Tokyo on July 26.
  • On July 10, Itou, Minmin, and Nonon declined to participate in the final screening due to the refusal to contact audition staff.[12]

Trivia

  • Ichii Sayaka sings the theme song for the audition "Hajimari no Countdown" under the name "Ichii Sayaka+with d." It is her first musical release in 17 years.
  • Out of all the participants placing first, Koochan (こーーちゃん) is the only one never placing first who still got through the first round.
  • The username Umarekawattara Takuhanki ni Naritai. (生まれ変わったら炊飯器になりたい。), who placed first in the 2nd rounds on May 11, means "When I am reborn, I want to become a rice cooker."
  • Mana (まな°) and Asarin (あさりん) declined contact immediately before the event screening, and were excluded from the grouping.
  • They sold limited T-shirts with the name of your favorite participant on them.
  • On July 3rd, Mino (みの) and Riko (りこ) from Dokidoki Dreamy Five and Aibon (あいぼん) from Koshigami Musume. were told to refrain from participating in the event screening on July 5.[13]
