  • Hey Riyu. Since you brought up the possibility of automating the switches of birthday stuff on the main page and I'd already stumbled across much of the trick, I'll share what I found.

    To cause the contents of one page to show up in another page, you can use {{:pagename}}. It's also possible to use the date functions with the name, so doing {{:{{CURRENTDAYJST}}}} would right now use the contents of the page 25, if it existed. So it shouldn't be terribly complicated to make a few variants that tell it to check pages named for today, tomorrow, on through a week or whatever.

    Here's an example of a set of created daily pages. Since I haven't tried finding others I don't know if Template is the obvious best place to stick such pages or what, but it shouldn't make much difference. Namingwise the main thing I'd recommend is keeping Birthday in there in case someone wants to do something else date-based in the future. Template: Birthday April 6, Template: Birthday 04 06, that kind of difference shouldn't really matter. Creating all these pages would be a decently big task, but since it would take a year to cycle through them it's not like there'd be any rush.

    I also looked up a way to check if a page even exists--it might look pretty silly if it says "Happy Birthday!" when nobody matches on a given day. That seems pretty straightforward, too.

    {{#ifexist: S/mileage | S/mileage exists! | S/mileage doesn't exist. }}
    {{#ifexist: S/melly | S/melly exists! | S/melly doesn't exist. }}

    results in

    S/mileage exists!
    S/melly doesn't exist.

  • Hey Riyu. As I recall, we were nearly the only people who took much interest in switching to a non-default favicon. And as it happens, we both now have the ability to make the switch. So I was thinking sometime in the near future we could show off a few possibilities in another blog post or something. Worst case scenario: still not many people care, but then at least we could pick one.

    It does seem Wikia is a bit more limited in this regard than it needs to be, so it has to be a 16x16 image, no greater.

    • I was thinking the Hello! Project Icon that made a face sorta, and maybe a current leader of a group as the other one.

    • One of my two is pretty much the old H!P logo with a different color scheme, though that's flexible. If you want to pick a leader picture (or a few), I can try to resize/crop it as decently as possible.

  • I don't know if it looks as you intended on your side, but on my end it seems a bit screwy. The snow starts on the far left of the page, but doesn't make it all the way across. It's like it's the width of the main part of the page, but not overlapping it quite right. However, that might be a good thing, because it seems having a snow GIF on top of things prevents anything below from being clicked--I couldn't even click on your Message Wall link to say this stuff. Sorry to say I have no tips for making it work better, though.

    • It looks pretty much fine on my side, but I can't click on links either, I'm probably just going to remove it. It was a fun idea.

    • I think I see why the difference in how it looks. I'm guessing you generally use the mobile version of the site? Seems the code basically says "Take this full other page, show it on top of this one". Since with the mobile site the content generally takes up the entire width, everything completely overlaps. With the desktop site there are bars at the side where only the background is shown, plus some other navigational stuff on the right side, so things just don't line up as well. Probably some way to make that work better, but I couldn't say how right now.

      I did find the trick to make it possible to click or select things underneath, though; adding ;pointer-events:none to the div style section.

    • I tested it on the main page briefly, and all the links seem to work there. And it looks pretty good.

  • Hi Riyu!! I don't know if you'll see this any time soon, but I was wondering if it would be ok for my to take care of Shizen Musume until you go back on the H!P Fanon wiki??

    • Sorry to reply to this late. I messaged you (at least I think it was you) on hello-online with my response. It's easier for me to reply on there for the time being.
