Early Life[]
Kusunoki Mei was born on November 10, 2004, in Osaka, Japan.
2018[]
Kusunoki participated in Hello! Project "ONLY YOU" Audition, but failed.
On November 1, it was announced that Kusunoki had joined Hello Pro Kenshuusei alongside Saito Madoka and Onoda Karin. They were introduced in the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2018 12gatsu ~Mikan~ show on December 2.[1]
2019[]
For unknown reasons, Kusunoki was not scheduled to appear in the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2019 3gatsu ~SUN~.
On April 2, Kusunoki's profile was removed from the Kenshuusei website, indicating that she had left the program. The event details about Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2019 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ posted to the Hello! Project website also clarified that she had ended her training.[2]
2021[]
In March, she opened a tiktok account.[3]
On August 9, she opened a instagram account.[4]
On August 13, she opened a Twitter and LINE live account.[5][6] She also announced her entry into the Kansai branch of the "JK Miss 2021" social media competition to determine the "cutest schoolgirl" in Japan.[7] She received the most overall votes for the Kansai region and moved forward to the competition semifinals,[8] but eventually lost to the representative from Hokkaido.[9]

In January, Kusunoki appeared in promotional materials for the Osaka School of Music.[10]
