Ichii Sayaka in CUBIC-CROSS (市井紗耶香 in CUBIC-CROSS) is a former Japanese band formed in 2002, featuring former Hello! Project and Morning Musume member Ichii Sayaka, Sharam Q's Taisei, and Yoshizawa Naoki.

They used the name "市井紗耶香 in CUBIC-CROSS" (Ichii Sayaka in CUBIC-CROSS) for their first three singles, but changed it to "Sayaka Ichii in CUBIC-CROSS" for their album and fourth single.

Ichii graduated from Morning Musume and Hello! Project in May 2000. The official statement was that she was going to go back to school. After being away from show business for a year and a half, Ichii made her pre-debut and she released FOLK SONGS with Nakazawa Yuko.

On March 24, 2003, it was announced on MUSIX! that the unit name with Taisei would be "Ichii Sayaka in CUBIC-CROSS". It was also announced that title of the debut song is "Jinsei ga Mou Hajimatteru" and that Ichii had written a song, where the theme is long-distance relationship, would be a coupling song. It was also mentioned that new members would join, maybe Sheki-Dol. [1]

Ichii Sayaka in CUBIC-CROSS went on hiatus after the release of their fourth single so that Ichii could start a solo career. Ichii released one single as a solo artist before she retired in late November 2003 due to her pregnancy with her first child. The father is fellow band member Yoshizawa Naoki. They had their first child the following year. The band disbanded at the same time Ichii retired.

Trivia[]

  • Rumours has it that Ichii was supposed to be "the second face" of Morning Musume after Fukuda Asuka had graduated. If this is true, then management must have changed their mind when Goto Maki joined, as she was given this role. This supposedly annoyed Ichii and she left the group.
