Early Life[]
Dambara Ruru was born on May 7, 2001 in Otake, Hiroshima, Japan.
Prior to participating in the Morning Musume 12ki Member "Mirai Shoujo" Audition, she was a 19th generation student of Actor's School Hiroshima.
2013[]
Dambara participated in the 12th generation auditions, and made it to the finals, but she failed to join.
On September 15, Dambara graduated from Actor's School Hiroshima.
On September 22, a self-introduction video of Dambara was uploaded to the Hello Pro Kenshuusei YouTube channel,[1] revealing that she was a new member of the program.
On December 7, Dambara was officially introduced as a Hello Pro Kenshuusei at the Hello Pro Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2013 ~12gatsu no Nama Tamago Show!~ alongside Yamaki Risa, Yokogawa Yumei, Niinuma Kisora, Oura Hirona, Haga Akane and Funaki Musubu, all seven girls did a dance performance of Juice=Juice's "Watashi ga Iu Mae ni Dakishimenakya ne".
2014[]
On January 12, Dambara participated in Hello! Project 2014 WINTER ~GOiSU MODE~'s Hiroshima concert, she also handed out momiji manju to the members of Hello! Project backstage.
Dambara participated in the opening act and as a back dancer for the Morning Musume '14 Concert Tour Haru ~Evolution~.
On May 4, Dambara won the best performance award with 248 votes at the Hello Pro Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2014 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event for her performance of "Memory Seishun no Hikari".
2015[]
Dambara participated in the opening act and a as back-up dancer for the ℃-ute Concert Tour 2015 Aki ~℃an't STOP!!~.
On May 4, Dambara was the runner-up for the judge's singing award at the Hello Pro Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2015 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event, for her performance of "GOOD BYE Natsuo".
2016[]
Dambara participated in the opening act and as a back dancer for the ℃-ute Concert Tour 2016 Haru ~℃ONCERTO~.
2017[]
Dambara participated in the opening act and as a back dancer for the ℃-ute Concert Tour 2017 Haru ~℃elebration~.
On May 5, at the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2017 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event, it was announced that she would debut alongside Ichioka Reina and Kawamura Ayano in the near future.[2][3] She also won the best performance award with 548 votes for her performance of "Give me Love".
On June 26, it was announced through a special episode of Hello! Project Station that Dambara would be joining Juice=Juice along with Yanagawa Nanami as new members.[4] They began performing with the group in the Hello! Project 2017 SUMMER concert tour[5][6] and Juice=Juice LIVE AROUND 2017 ~Seven Horizon~.[7]
On August 11, Dambara and the four other members promoted from Hello Pro Kenshuusei released a digital song titled "Gobaku ~We Can't Go Back~".
2018[]
On May 8, Dambara celebrated her 17th birthday at a fanclub event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2018, featuring three shows at TOKYO FM HALL.
2019[]
On May 8, she celebrated her 18th birthday at a fanclub event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2019, featuring two shows at Mynavi BLITZ Akasaka.
On September 6, Dambara sang the national anthem at the Hiroshima Toyo Carp home game against the Hashin Tigers at MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima.[8][9]
2020[]
On February 6, it was announced that Dambara Ruru started to feel some pain in her right foot the day before, which turned out to be a sesamoid bone fracture. As a result, she did not dance and only sang during concert performances of Hello! Project 2020 Winter and Juice=Juice LIVE TOUR 2020 ~NEW SENSATION~ for about a month.[10][11]
On February 9, it was announced that Dambara would star in Hajimete wo Keikenchuu, SKY PerfecTV!'s 49th Twitter morning drama series that would be posted every day from February 17 to February 22.[12]
On May 8, she was set to celebrate her 19th birthday at a fanclub event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2020. It was later cancelled due to the government's declaration of emergency following the spread of COVID-19 getting worse.[13] The event was eventually rescheduled for September 8.
On July 12, she opened up an official Instagram account.
On October 25, she participated in an episode of TV Tokyo's THE Karaoke ★ Battle.[14]
On November 17, it was announced that she and Inaba Manaka would appear as guest judges for an online university and graduate school level dance competition titled Bokura no Online Gakuen-sai. The song assigned was Juice=Juice's ""Hitori de Ikiraresou" tte Sore tte Nee, Homete Iru no?". The online judging event took place on December 16.[15][16]
2021[]
On May 7, she celebrated her 20th birthday at a fanclub event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2021, featuring two shows at Ota Ward Residents Hall Aprico Hall in Tokyo.
On December 31, during the Hello! Project Year-End Party 2021 ~GOOD BYE & HELLO!~ <Juice=Juice Premium>, she was appointed as a new sub-leader of Juice=Juice alongside Inaba Manaka.
2022[]
On May 11, she celebrated her 21st birthday at a fanclub event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2022, featuring two shows at Edogawa Cultural Center in Tokyo.
On November 28, it was reported that Dambara was diagnosed with COVID-19. She reported a sore throat on November 27 and took a PCR test which was confirmed to be positive. Due to several members being diagnosed with COVID-19 at the same time, the autumn tour final Juice=Juice CONCERT TOUR ~final: nouvelle vague~, scheduled to be held on November 29 at Nippon Budokan, was postponed.[17]
2023[]
On June 18, she celebrated her 22nd birthday at a fanclub event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2023, featuring two shows at Toda City Culture Hall in Saitama.
2024[]
On May 7, she released her first photobook titled Ruruiro.[18], and she celebrated her 23rd birthday event titled Juice=Juice Dambara Ruru Birthday Event 2024, featuring two shows at Tiara Koto in Tokyo.
On June 8, it was announced in the last day of the Juice=Juice Concert Tour 2024 1-LINE that Dambara would be succeeding Uemura Akari as the new leader of Juice=Juice following Uemura's graduation on June 14.[19]
Personal Life[]
She has an older sister named Riri, who is a former member of the group SPL∞ASH.
When Dambara joined Juice=Juice, she was a first year high school student. In March 2020, Dambara graduated from high school. [20]
On August 10, 2020, she revealed that her piano teacher had passed away. In tribute to her teacher, she posted a cover of "Suppin to Namida." onto the official Juice=Juice YouTube channel.[21][22]
Dambara gets along best with Inoue Rei in Juice=Juice. She gets along best with former ANGERME member Funaki Musubu. She also is good friends with former Tsubaki Factory member Niinuma Kisora outside Juice=Juice.
