DEF.DIVA was a Hello! Project group consisting of Goto Maki, Abe Natsumi, Ishikawa Rika, and Matsuura Aya. The name stands for definitive diva.

History

Its formation was announced in September 2005, and their first single, which was released on October 19 2005, reached Number 1 in the Oricon weekly rankings. They were originally expected to be a short-term group and have only one release; this was based on the pattern followed by previous groups comprised of soloists, as well as the helloproject.com announcement which said that it was a "Special unit for 2005". However, in March 2006 their second single was released, suggesting that this group might be around for a while longer. The fact that the new song, Let's Go Rakuten Eagles, was the new official cheer song for the Rakuten Eagles baseball team, as well as the fact that the members were busy with other H!P units (Matsuura as half of GAM, Ishikawa as leader of Biyuuden) or solo careers (Abe and Goto) meant that the group had not established a release pattern which is typical of more long-lived groups in Hello! Project.

However, the inactivity of the group has continued to this day, and with the graduation of Goto from Hello! Project in October of 2007, it is safe to assume that unless there is a change in line-up, DEF.DIVA won't have any more releases.
